Description

Type: Still Red Wine
Grape(s): 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc & 4% Petit Verdot
Wine Region: Bordeaux, France

Tasting Notes: Aged 12 to 16 months in French oak casks of which 50% is new, Château Cantemerle is considered as some of Bordeaux’s best value. Medium bodied with smooth tannins and a great purity of fruits. Once in the mouth, this rich and full-bodied wine releases notes of coffee, olives and liquorice which are emphasised by an opulent and harmonious length. A fine wine which marries fullness and delicacy, while avoiding heaviness and excessive oak.

Estate: Located in the southern Médoc between Macau and Ludon, Château Cantemerle is one of the region’s most scenic estates, set among parkland and trees near the outskirts of Bordeaux. With origins dating back to the 12th century and wine production since 1354, it holds a long and storied history.

Cantemerle was the final estate added to the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, earning its place as a Cinquième Cru Classé (Fifth Growth)—a lasting mark of quality and reputation.

Today, Cantemerle produces around 400,000 bottles of its grand vin annually, along with 160,000 bottles of its second wine, Les Allées de Cantemerle.

Suggested food and wine pairing: Great satisfaction with all meat and poultry, as well as cheeses.
