I was intrigued by the story of this wine. When provenance comes into play it changes the metrics somewhat and finding a single vineyard bottle with a 300+ year history is always something worthy of checking out.
And yes, it was excellent and full of personality. I'll be getting it again as the price, value and impact was all where I wanted it to be. Another wonderful find from the Old Chapel Cellars.
P.S. There is no picture to upload...we opened it, drank it and loved it.
Not too sweet, not too sour, not too heavy, not too light. Just right for the casual glass.
Palm is appearing everywhere! With its very pale pink colour, it symbolises the blue sky and warmth of Provence and the Côte d'Azur. It will give you pleasure from the word go! with a frech, soft and enjoyable scent. It has fresh mature peachy taste throughout, it also have just enough acidity to zing the palate with enough smoothness to make it a staple of summer's evening. Enjoy chilled but not cold, and if it too hot where you are do not hesitate to drown a few ice cube, to allow it to become a long drink, and remind you of the "baignoires of St Tropez" ( The Bathtubs of St Tropez🤣😉) Enjoy whilst its there!
Bandol is one of my favourite reds but it's hard to find and it's a bit pricey. It owes its taste to the Mourvedre grape which it contains in a large amount - 60% maybe. So, when I picked up a bottle of Lo and Behold and read the label on the back, I was instantly attracted and not disappointed. Mourvedre, it doesn't say how much but I was willing to take a chance. Good choice. Good price. A glass full of South African sunshine.
Galicia is well know for its white wines. I was first introduced to them in 2013 by my Spanish sister- in- law when hiking in this area. She recommended that I accompanied the wine with a local Goats cheese and Quince jelly. The nuttiness of the cheese and the tartness of the jelly seemed to enhance the sweetness of the melon, and the earthiness of the herbs.
One of the discoveries of the year! Frappato, is a light bright red but really tasty wine from Sicily. It is very smooth, fruity wine that I like for aperitif, for accompanying dried cured meat, pasta, chicken, pork and particularly appreciated slightly under room temperature with a bbq under the cover of the pergola. It is light enough to make it through the meal, i generally avoid pairing it with very sweet desserts, but works well with fresh fruits.
Recommend this wine for drinking by itself or with seafood. Very moreish!
I bought this for a friend who was retiring from work. He said it was lovely. I'll come in and buy one for me any day soon!
Depth, flavour, and fine bubbles- delicious even on a picnic for a graduation- despite not being well chilled on a hot summer day…
Delicious wine, always helpful knowledgeable service, paired perfectly with a steak from our local butcher. Never disappointed with the wine we buy from old chapel cellars
Possibly the best bottle of white burgundy I have ever drunk
A really nice beer to soothe the aching legs after shopping. A great relaxing place to fo it
A crispy Pinot Grigio which lands lightly and unobtrusively on your tongue , great to drink on its own especially when chilled to perfection.
For me, it's an age thing, proper Rioja should have a nose like my grandma's sideboard that was built of vanilla oak. This doesn't have quite the vanilla hit that I love but it has loads of other features that hit the spot. It's smooth and delicate and the flavours emerge gradually as you roll that first mouthful around your palate. The girls were doing a bit of bubbly while we boys clustered around the breakfast bar to draw the cork, pour into a decent glass and take stock of the situation. Yummo-scrummo! We drank it with a barbecued bavette steak, new potatoes and a salad. Wossnottolike?
Genuinely a great Pinot Noir full of red fruit flavour (but not heavy) and a must at a dinner party or to savour over a quiet evening. Love the lingering flavours on the palate and freshness. Absolutely love this wine and cannot recommend it enough.
This wine has a depth together with an honest simplicity it was very good
Really lovely white wine. To be honest I don’t drink white wine much, but know what I enjoy. Nice rounded flavour that holds on the tongue. Melon and citrus notes with a great after taste.
Smooth and full-bodied but not too berry heavy. Will definitely be buying again.
I thought only New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wines tasted like this: like pink grapefruit, green pepper and passion fruit pastilles. Delicious.
A great wine for lovers of a smooth white wine who maybe looking for something different from the usual Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio grape, will be buying again.
Wine was a gift for someone, who luckily lived in Truro.
Great service & helpful when phoning them.
We definitely purchase & visit soon .
