Lo and Behold, Shiraz, Mourvedre, Carignan, Cinsaut
Type: Red Wine
Grape(s): Shiraz 65%, Mourvèdre 15% & 20% Carignan
Wine Region: Piekenierskloof, South Africa
Tasting Notes: Fresh, ripe fruit and white pepper on the nose. Mourvèdre brings a dark, rich fruit core to the classic Shiraz characteristics, with fragrance from the Carignan and the red fruit vibrancy of the Cinsault.
Sourced from vineyards in the mountainous Piekenierskloof region, above Citrusdal Valley, Western Cape. The shiraz is aged with French oak for 6 months. All varieties are aged in stainless steel for 6 months before blending, resulting in a balanced, vibrant wine.
Producer Notes: The Lo & Behold range was crafted to showcase the unique terroir of the Piekenierskloof region. By blending traditional Rhône varietals like Shiraz, Mourvèdre, and Carignan, the wine aims to highlight the slow-ripening process facilitated by the region's Mediterranean-style climate. The name "Lo & Behold" reflects the awe-inspiring landscape and the exceptional conditions of the region.
Suggested food and wine pairing: Works beautifully with pizza, Mediterranean pastas and lamb stew.
