Domaine L'ancienne Cure Monbazillac (37.5cl)
Type: Sweet White Wine
Grape(s): Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle
Wine Region: Monbazillac, Southwest France
Tasting Notes: Golden in hue, this Monbazillac opens with expressive aromas of honeyed apricot, candied citrus, and ripe stone fruit, lifted by hints of acacia and warm spice. The palate is luxuriously smooth and lusciously sweet, yet finely balanced by bright acidity. Layers of peach, marmalade, and blossom unfold with depth, leading to a long, silky, gently warming finish. A classic, elegant expression of botrytised Monbazillac—opulent, refined, and beautifully harmonious.
Domaine de l’Ancienne Cure is a long-established, family-owned estate in Monbazillac, tended by the Roche family for many generations. Under Christian Roche, who took over in the 1980s, the vineyards moved to fully organic practices to nurture healthier soils and more expressive wines. While best known for its rich, botrytised Monbazillac sweet wines, the estate also crafts fresh dry whites, Merlot-led reds, and a range of low-intervention cuvées from neighbouring appellations.
Suggested food and wine pairing:
Perfect with blue cheeses, pâté, fruit-based desserts, tarte tatin, or crème brûlée. Also excellent alongside spiced Asian dishes or enjoyed simply on its own as a luxurious after-dinner treat.
