Description

Type: Red Wine
Grape(s):
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Region:
Bordeaux, France

Tasting Notes: The wine is predominantly Merlot (80%) & Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) with support in a classic red Bordeaux blend. Lovely soft bramble fruit flavours with vanilla notes from time spent ageing in oak barrels.

The Estate: In the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers in the Bordeaux wine-producing region, near Creon, the vineyards of Chateau Haut-Pougnan spread on the slopes of the right bank of the Garonne, with superb clay-limestone soil and gravel.

That is the nature of calcareous clay these soils resulting in very fine wines with subtle bouquet.

Suggested food and wine pairing: This red Bordeaux wine pairs really well with roast lamb and most red meats.

Fantastic Service

I would highly recommend Old Chapel Cellars and will definitely purchase from them again. Jake, in particular was very helpful and informative with an enquiry I that I had in regards to the wine I’d ordered as the bottles I’d chose were a present for my in-laws. It will be roughly a further year until the bottles are opened so I’m unable to advise on the taste… if the 2018 is anything to go by then i recommend you try this particular red.
