Steve, Operational Support Manager

“I like to treat the family to a bottle of our Tokaji – an incredible sweet wine which we have with dessert on Christmas Day. My dad loves pudding wine but sadly he’s now in a home with Alzheimer’s – we’ll be toasting him with this as he can no longer join us at home for Christmas.”

“I’ve chosen Glenwood Chardonnay, as it was the first bottle I took home when I started here at Old Chapel Cellars. At the time I thought this would be great to drink at Christmas with the turkey, so here we are today!”

“The first bottle that gets opened in our house on Christmas Day is always a bottle of fizz, usually as the lunch prep starts. I love a rose, so this year I’ll be providing the bubbles in the form of Reserva Especial Rose Cava from Dominio de la Vega. This is made from Pinot Noir grapes aged on their lees for 20 months. It’s a very elegant, grown-up Cava, plus it’s a gorgeous salmon-pink colour!”

“I’ll be taking home a bottle of Eirados 10-Year-Old Tawny Port, which we’ll enjoy with our traditional cheese board. Because it’s tawny, it’s lighter than ruby or vintage port, slightly reducing the chances of me falling asleep straight after consuming a glass or two! Port still offers great value in my opinion, and it’s a perfect way to end your Christmas meal.”

“I always grab a bottle or two of Moscato Di Asti as I’m leaving for the Christmas break. It’s the perfect light fizz for Christmas day with a hint of sweetness. We have a bottle at breakfast - at only 5.5% it eases you nicely into the day!”
