The beer is dry hopped and bottle fermented with Brettanomyces, which over time eats all the sugar in the beer and leaves behind a herbal-dry beer. A touch of caramel and a strong zesty orange pith flavour.
This Belgian Trappist brewery only makes one beer, but it is one of the most sort-after beers in the world. Brewed by monks within the walls of the monastry, Orval is an orange-hazed Belgian pale ale.
