Martinez Lacuesta Gran Reserva Rioja Coleccion Familia 2011
Type: Red Wine
Grape(s): Tempranillo 75%, Graciano 20% and Mazuelo 5%
Wine Region: Rioja, Spain
Tasting Notes: Cherry red colour with garnet rim. Very intense aromas. Complex, with notes of plums and ripe grapes, blackberry jam and red raspberries that give way to spicy and balsamic notes of tobacco leaves, cedar, liquorice, vanilla, chocolate and ground coffee. Good entry. Fresh, clean and balanced on the palate, silky tannins and a smooth, delicate finish. Very long aftertaste, with balsamic notes of coffee and toasted caramel, accompanied by primary sensations of fruit.
Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta was founded in 1895 in Haro, Rioja. It was one of the original bodegas responsible for the setting-up of the Regulatory Body of the Rioja wine D.O.
2011 VINTAGE: Very favourable weather that allowed the vines to be in excellent
conditions, both in terms of development and health, and a very moderate production. The result was very loose, medium-sized bunches with small berries. This vintage can also be described as very Atlantic, standing out with wines of great freshness, firmness and complexity, optimal for long ageing in barrels. This vintage was officially rated Excellent by the DOCa Rioja.
Suggested food and wine pairing: Suitable for drinking with delicate and mild-tasting dishes.
