Germar Breton Millesime 2014 Champagne
Type: Sparkling Wine
Grape(s): 100% Chardonnay
Wine Region: Champagne, France
Tasting Notes: The 2014 vintage is 100% Chardonnay and spends 6 years on it’s lees and has a mere 3 grams per litre dosage, putting it firmly in the Extra Brut category. The wonderful balance of richness and crisp, fresh acidity keeps one coming back for glass after glass.
Aube is Champagne’s most southerly and until-recently-least-fashionable growing region. It's grapes have traditionally been undervalued by the rest of Champagne, largely due to geography (its vineyards are actually closer to Chablis than to Reims or Épernay). But actually, Aube has used this distance to its advantage. The region has been less swayed by the tide of tradition in Champagne, which is why grower-producers started springing up here way before the term became fashionable in the Marne.
Suggested food and wine pairing: Pair with lightly smoked salmon, parmesan cheese or truffles.
