Chateau Lafon Rochet 2016, Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Estephe
Type: Red Wine
Grape(s): Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Merlot 26%, Others 8%
Wine Region: Bordeaux, France
Tasting Notes: The estate's great wine comes from the oldest vines from 41 hectares of vines covering two ridges of the Saintt-Estèphe. Château Lafon-Rochet is a wine that is both simple and complex, it expresses aromas of black fruits in the majority of vintages, there is really a fade and a particular expression of Saint-Estèphe, a certain warmth and roundness while finesse from the Merlot grape variety.
A definitive classic vintage. A naturally powerful structured wine with a fleshy attack, well rounded with a soft and balanced sweetness. Mid-palate is tighter and more classic. The finale is the perfect representation of the year : long, smooth and full of patience.
Suggested food and wine pairing: The structured tannins and deep flavors of the wine can pair well with grilled or roasted meats. Try it with a juicy ribeye steak, lamb chops, or roast beef. Also consider lamb, a classic pairing with Bordeaux. If you enjoy dessert pairings, consider dark chocolate with a high cocoa content. The wine's tannins can be balanced by the richness of the chocolate.
