In the heart of Volnay this is an estate that was handed over to the son 8 years ago. Pierrick has since won the title of ‘Young Vigneron of the Year’ from Bourgogne Aujourd’hui magazine. He uses minimal sulphur, none during fermentation and lets the wines evolve naturally. The results are wines with very pure fruit, not masked by oak, silky tannins and really good length.
2018 was a hot vintage, beaten only in recent times by the 2003s. However, many domaines have since learnt how to manage hot vintages and have been able to make ripe but well balanced wines. On the whole the Pinots are full, voluptuous and incredibly easy to drink. Maybe not wines to lay down for extended ageing but although they are tasting very well now the Domaines who managed their acidities have produced wines which will also age well in the medium term.
