Jamie says: "Contino, being a single-estate Rioja embraces the Bordeaux Chateau concept.  2005 was hailed as an excellent vintage in Rioja and the Contino Reserva is a perfect example of this.  Contino Reserva enjoys 2 years ageing in a mixture of French and American oak, it has aromas of smoke, spice box, roses, leather, black cherry, and blackberry.  Contino Reserva 2005 is incredibly elegant on the palate, the fruit is rich yet balanced by lively acidity and the flavours are beautifully ripe and savory.  Contino Reserva should continue to develop in bottle for a further 5 years or so and should drink well for another 15 years."
