Jamie says: "Le Sabounet is one of those wines that makes a mockery of the wine laws.  It is only permitted to be sold as a non-vintage vin de table but this does not explain to the consumer how good this wine is - in fact it suggests exactly the opposite.  I was first tipped off about this wine by a friend of mine who consults for some of London's top restaurants.  Roger Sabon is recognised by leading critics as one of Chateauneuf's leading lights and this little table wine is a real treat - it is fresh, supple and really versatile & food friendly.  Le Sabounet is my basic Cotes-du-Rhone wine as it is better than most that bear the grander title."
